The Nissan Elgrand vs. Toyota Alphard

In all seriousness and objectivity, the Alphard is basing its popularity on being THE minivan to outperform the Nissan Elgrand. However, Nissan isn’t scared. They’ve seen and observed the Alphard and do not see it as coming remotely close to the Elgrand.
Both minivans are top of the line and have a spacious interior. The Elgrand has a better one because of its kitchen sector runway. It also has a bigger engine which means more power. In terms of pricing, the Alphard is being pegged as the more luxurious and exclusive minivan, and therefore the price tag is justified.
Unfortunately, this could be the very thing that could make the Alphard not as popular. More consumers are price conscious even with used cars so it could be the one factor that could drive more customers to Nissan. The assumption that anyone who can afford a luxury van should be able to fork out a little more for the Toyota is flawed. A budget is a budget and the fool is the one who disregards the budget as being insignificant. As a matter of fact, for the price of the Alphard, one could get a European brand like the Mercedes S or E class which carries more weight because it’s a Mercedes.
Thus, under these terms, Nissan wins.
